OEI and Danfoss: Visiting the Singapore Application Development Center, and Our Growing History

In August, our company made a trip to the office of Danfoss Singapore Pte. Ltd., where our representatives Engr. Paul V. Avena, and Dominique Avena, met with Mr. Wah Lam Ong, the Director of the Center of Excellence of Danfoss in the API Region.

During this visit, we were able to view Danfoss’ Application Development Center, and see the wide range of applications Danfoss covers with their Variable Frequency Drives and Soft Starters.


We were also able to have a first glimpse on some of the upcoming developments in Drive Technology that have yet to be launched and announced.


Danfoss is a world-leading supplier of technologies for several industries in many markets.

Danfoss and Optimum Electrokonsult

1. Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of Danfoss Cabinet Drives for the Line 3 Expansion of Northern Cement Corporation

The enclosed VACON® NXC is the compact drive that performs reliably in harsh operating conditions in, for example, the mining, oil and gas or water and wastewater industries. The thermally managed enclosure extends drive lifetime and ensures trouble-free operation.


And part of the features our solution delivers is Back Channel Cooling. With the Built-in Back Channel Cooling, operating costs and power consumption, as typically needed by a supporting Air-Conditioning System are significantly reduced due to:

  • lower heat losses from the drives

  • lower heat loads in the Motor Control Center (MCC) room as a result of back channel cooling

  • resultant lower power consumption of the air conditioning system in the MCC room.


2. Supply and Installation of Danfoss Variable Frequency Drives for Cascade Controller (VACON Drives) of Costa Pacifica Baler

Cascade control is a common control system used to control parallel pumps or fans; an activity often performed by a PLC. Cascade for multi-pump operation is chosen due to high level of process management while running the solution more energy efficient, saving money and reducing CO2 footprint.¹


In the case of our client, programming cascade control into their VFD System optimizes their manpower operations; reducing the need to manually switch the VFDs working in controlling their pumps.



3. Preventive Maintenance of 131 Units of VFDs for Bridgebury Realty Corporation

Regularly scheduling Preventive Maintenance Activities ensures that your Variable Frequency Drives are kept in optimal condition and perform their best. This increases the life cycle of your facility's drive system and reduces the risk of unexpected downtime.
